I was lucky enough to get pre-launch access to an affiliate training site called Affilorama , and I think it’s brilliant. Especially if you’re not doing very well at promoting affiliate programs.
If I used such over the top expressions, I’d say “it’s blown me away” This is affiliate training at its best, brought to us by an almost unknown super affiliate called Mark Ling. New Zealand based Mark, who says he makes well over a million dollars a year, earns his income 2 ways – from creating and marketing his own online products, and from a mixture of sales letter based mini sites and larger article sites.
In case you think the bulk of his income from his product sales, he says ” My companies earn tens of thousands of dollars every single week from marketing other people’s products online and earning commissions.”
Now if you’re like me, you’re always a bit cynical when one of these million plus super affiliates suddenly appears on the internet marketing scene ready to unload their secrets (though I don’t know why I am suspicious of anyone saying they make so much when I know that Commission Junction pay several affiliates over 750,000k a month, and Jim Lillig, an affiliate manager friend of mine, says that he often wrote affiliates 250,000k monthly checks when he was in the MP3 download business) so I asked Mark to show me some of his sites and he sent me quite a list.
Unfortunately I can’t share the urls with you, but some of them are mentioned inside the Affilorama member site. After studying his sites, the kind of long term value sites he shows you how to build in the training, I’ve got no reason to doubt his 1,000,000k plus statement. Anyhow, the quality of Marks affiliate sites is quite impressive, but nothing you couldn’t do if you put some work in.
However, I’m even more impressed with the video based training inside the Affilorama member site – each long video (and there’s 28 of them covering every step of affiliate marketing, plus another 6 starter videos) can be watched online, or downloaded in a choice of fullscreen or smaller sizes.
There’s also a ready to download PDF accompanying each video which is a sort of transcript/sum up of the video content called Printable Lesson Notes. It’s all very professionally done and the content is excellent.
If you already do well promoting affiliate programs not every video will be of interest to you, except as a refresher, but it’s all good solid stuff. There are quite a few on using Google Adwords and Yahoo/Overture ads to build your affiliate business, and an interesting one on leveraging Google Video and image search. Plus lots more, of course.
Well done Mark. And thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Update 2009: Affilorama is now FREE
but that’s because Mark has brought out a brand new ( and even better) membership based affiliate training package called AffiloBlueprint.
Quite possibly, when you visit the site, you’ll find it’s closed to new members. You won’t get spammed, or pitched to, if you leave your name and email address to be notified when it reopens so if it’s closed you should fill in the waiting list form so you can at least have a chance getting inside soon
